Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-residue peptide first isolated from thymus tissue in the 1970s. It corresponds to the N-terminal portion of thymosin beta-4, from which it is cleaved in vivo. The peptide carries an acetyl group at its N-terminus, a modification that affects its charge and stability. Synthetic material produced by solid-phase peptide synthesis is chemically identical to the natural fragment and is the form used in research and clinical studies.
Laboratory work indicates that the peptide acts on cells of both the innate and adaptive immune systems. Reported effects include signalling through Toll-like receptors on dendritic cells, enhanced T-cell maturation, and increased natural killer cell activity. These actions are described largely from cell-culture and animal experiments, and the precise receptor-level events remain incompletely defined. Studies in humans have generally measured immune markers rather than a single defined molecular target. The resulting picture remains partly descriptive.
The compound has been investigated as an adjunct in chronic viral hepatitis and as a vaccine adjuvant, with results that vary by study design and population. Regulators in some countries have approved a synthetic form for specific indications, while other agencies have not. Whether the peptide produces consistent clinical benefit across diverse patient groups is still an open question, and many trials have been small. Its status is therefore best described as investigational in many contexts and established only narrowly.
The name itself causes confusion, because several unrelated thymic peptides share the thymosin label. Thymosin beta-4, for example, is a different molecule with different functions. Naming conventions in the literature also mix descriptive research terms with assigned nonproprietary names, so a reader should confirm which entity a given paper addresses. Clarifying that point is usually the first step in interpreting any claim about this peptide.

Thymosin alpha-1 is a synthetic peptide of 28 amino acids whose sequence matches the amino-terminal region of prothymosin alpha. The chain is acetylated at its first residue and contains one disulfide bridge between two cysteine residues, which folds the molecule into a compact loop. Its molecular formula, C129H215N33O55, corresponds to a monoisotopic mass of roughly 3,106 daltons. Material used in laboratories is made by solid-phase synthesis rather than isolated from animal tissue.
Early work on thymic extracts in the 1960s described a heat-stable acidic fraction containing many polypeptides. Separation of that mixture yielded individual components, and thymosin alpha-1 was named as one of them on the basis of assays for T-cell activity. The first preparations came from calf thymus, while subsequent research and clinical material has been chemically synthesized. Nomenclature in older papers is inconsistent, and the same peptide sometimes appears under different designations, which complicates literature searches.
Storage recommendations center on low temperature, dryness, and protection from repeated freezing and thawing. The intact powder is commonly held at 20 degrees below zero Celsius or colder, while a working solution is divided into single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Buffered saline or phosphate-buffered saline at neutral pH is frequently used as a diluent. Light sensitivity is not well documented, yet amber vials or foil wrapping are common practice for long-term storage of peptide stocks.
Identity and purity are assessed with a small set of standard peptide methods. Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates the main peak from truncated or oxidized species, and its area percentage is the usual purity measure. Mass spectrometry confirms the observed molecular mass against the expected value, while amino acid analysis or peptide mapping checks composition and sequence. Specifications for research-grade material are often stated as 95 percent or higher, though the exact limit depends on the supplier and the intended use.
=== Mechanism === Legumain is a cysteine protease from the C13 family of the CD clan of proteases (MEROPS). It uses a catalytic triad of Cysteine-Histidine-Asparagine in its active site to perform covalent proteolysis of its substrate.

The right to take collective action, including the "right to strike" within "the laws of the particular country" is a universal right in international law. However, Australian law is one of the most restrictive on unions' freedom to take action to protect members' interests, and progressive restrictions on voice at work have matched a stagnation of wages. Before 1993, the law formally did not allow strike action at all, although in practice many strikes took place. Disputes were meant to be solved by compulsory arbitration, leading to notable instances of union officers being sued in tort for millions in damages where they took action. This is because under old common law, a strike that breaks a contract may lead to the imposition of industrial torts. Under the Fair Work Act 2009 section 19, industrial action is performing work "in a manner different from that in which it is customarily performed" or "a restriction or limitation on, or a delay in, the performance of work". It is not clear whether picketing is always industrial action, given a Federal Court case before the FWA 2009 doubting that it was, leading to the result that picketing would not be protected action, but also that the FWC could not issue stop orders against pickets.

=== Legal issues === On March 4, 2007, Kardashian was arrested for driving under the influence. On July 18, 2008, she reported to jail to serve time for violation of probation. She faced a sentence of up to 30 days and enrollment in an alcohol treatment program within three weeks of her release from jail. She was released less than three hours later due to overcrowding. In December 2011, Kardashian was sued by a woman who claimed Kardashian and 10 other people assaulted her outside a nightclub in December 2009. In March 2012, Kardashian and her sisters Kourtney and Kim were named in a $5 million class-action lawsuit against QuickTrim, the weight-loss supplement they endorse. The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses the Kardashians (along with QuickTrim's manufacturer, Windmill Health Products; the retailer GNC; and others in the sales and marketing chain) of false and deceptive marketing of the diet aid. The plaintiffs, hailing from several states, brought claims under their respective states' consumer protection laws.
Eyeshine is a visible effect of the tapetum lucidum. When light shines into the eye of an animal having a tapetum lucidum, the pupil appears to glow. Eyeshine can be seen in many animals, in nature, and in flash photographs. In low light, a hand-held flashlight is sufficient to produce eyeshine that is visible to humans (despite their inferior night vision). Eyeshine occurs in a wide variety of colors including white, blue, green, yellow, pink, and red. However, since eyeshine is a type of iridescence, the color varies with the angle at which it is seen and the minerals which make up the reflective tapetum lucidum crystals. Individuals with heterochromia may display red eyeshine in the blue eye and other-colored eyeshine in the other eye. These include odd-eyed cats and bi-eyed dogs.

== Method of action == Sergliflozin inhibits subtype 2 of the sodium-glucose transport proteins (SGLT2), which is responsible for at least 90% of the glucose reabsorption in the kidney. Blocking this transporter causes blood glucose to be eliminated through the urine.
Liu Wenhui (simplified Chinese: 刘文辉; traditional Chinese: 劉文輝; pinyin: Liú Wénhuī; Wade–Giles: Liu Wen-hui; 10 January 1895 – 24 June 1976) was a Chinese general and warlord of Sichuan and Xikang provinces (Sichuan clique). At the beginning of his career, he was aligned with the Kuomintang (KMT), commanding the Sichuan-Xikang Defence Force from 1927 to 1929. In 1929, he became Sichuan governor before being ousted by a coalition of warlords in 1933; from there, he controlled the western part of Sichuan province, then known as Xikang, ruling the area as a personal fiefdom. He maintained his autonomy from the Nationalist government and pursued development programs in the province, which he funded through the trade of opium and by maintaining cordial relations with Chiang Kai-shek during the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1949 he defected to the Communist forces of Mao Zedong, and went on to hold high office in the new People's Republic of China, serving as Minister of Forestry (1959–1967), member of the National People's Congress, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and member of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.
=== Sponsor === Throughout the clinical trial, the sponsor is responsible for accurately informing the local site investigators of the true historical safety record of the drug, device or other medical treatments to be tested, and of any potential interactions of the study treatment(s) with already approved treatments. This allows the local investigators to make an informed judgment on whether to participate in the study or not. The sponsor is also responsible for monitoring the results of the study as they come in from the various sites as the trial proceeds. In larger clinical trials, a sponsor will use the services of a data monitoring committee (DMC, known in the US as a data safety monitoring board). This independent group of clinicians and statisticians meets periodically to review the unblinded data the sponsor has received so far. The DMC has the power to recommend termination of the study based on their review, for example if the study treatment is causing more deaths than the standard treatment, or seems to be causing unexpected and study-related serious adverse events. The sponsor is responsible for collecting adverse event reports from all site investigators in the study, and for informing all the investigators of the sponsor's judgment as to whether these adverse events were related or not related to the study treatment.
=== ZonaZoo === Officially implemented in 2003, ZonaZoo is the official student section and student ticketing program for the University of Arizona Athletics. The ZonaZoo program is co-owned by the Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA) and Arizona Athletics yet run by a team of individuals called the ZonaZoo Crew. In 2014, ESPN ranked ZonaZoo as the top student cheering section in the PAC 12 conference and in 2015, and in 2018, ZonaZoo received the Best Student Section of the Year award from the National Collegiate Student Section Association.

It corresponds to the first 28 amino acids of thymosin beta-4, a larger protein found in many tissues. The fragment is acetylated at its N-terminus and is produced synthetically for research and pharmaceutical use. Synthetic and natural forms share the same sequence.
It is usually described as an immunomodulatory peptide rather than a classical hormone. It does not travel to a single distant organ in the manner of an endocrine hormone. Classification varies across sources, and some texts group it with thymic peptides generally.
The broad outline involves immune cell activation, but the specific molecular steps remain under investigation. Different studies report effects on dendritic cells, T cells, and natural killer cells. No single receptor has been confirmed as the sole mediator.
It is usually classified as an immunomodulatory peptide rather than a classical hormone. It derives from the larger protein prothymosin alpha and acts mainly on immune cells. The thymosin label covers a group of distinct peptides, so the naming can be misleading.
